Sound Therapy

What is sound therapy?

We are beginning to discover and understand how important sound and music are for us spiritually as well as physically.  Sound influences us on a much deeper level than first thought and modern science now supports the ancient belief that all matter comes from vibrations and sound.  The Earth Plain is made up of vibrating energy too which can be accessed by anyone at any time.  Even ancient cultures such as the Egyptians, Aztecs, and Sharman’s have understood and utilized sounds as powerful tools to heal the sick.

Sound Therapy is effective because it influences our emotional bodies (our spirit within).  We believe that emotional imbalances are the root behind many physical problems and blockages.  Sound and emotions are deeply connected.  Human emotions have their immediate expression through sound.  Sound can also be used to unblock the blocked emotions and release them with ease.

“Sound Therapy or Sound Healing is the use of sound to create balance and alignment in the physical body”

So far we have a basic understanding that the universe is made of matter and energy; vibrating at different frequencies.  We believe that the human body is not only made up of solid matter, but we are in fact a body of vibrating energy.  A liver cell, for example, has a different resonate frequency to a kidney cell and bones, for example, are vibrating at a slower rate than blood plasma.  Also trees, animals, crystals, metals, rocks, stones, water, and gases all have their own resonate frequency.

Even thought and emotions are vibrating but they are just vibrating at a much higher frequency than solid matter.  In essence everything that vibrates emits sound and some we hear and others we do not.  It stands to reason that we are literally our own symphony and as we are unique then we have our own vibrating signature.  Some argue that listening to classical music show that you like to be a more positive person.

Our body is made up of a network of energy-vibrating at different rates and frequencies/ levels which can fluctuate, weaken, and can go out of tune just like a piece of music.

The Nervous System

The human ear is able to perceive vibrations with a certain range of frequency as what we know as sound.  The sound waves vibrate your ear drum which goes to the inner ear and is changed to nerve signals you can sense.  The cells of your body enjoy these vibrations and as the human body are made up of 70% of water: this makes it a very good conduct of sound.  We recommend that we ask patients to drink plenty of water prior to a sound therapy treatment and after as this make the sound therapy treatment more effective.

The nervous system itself vibrates on a very high frequency and sound therapy is excellent for those that suffer from physical problems associated in that area.  Certain sound therapy treatments are designed to realign and bring balance with the nervous system vibration, which can sometimes go out of balance due to many different reasons such a lack of sleep or stress.  By using specific healing tools, the healer is able to help realign and heal the nervous system.

How does sound therapy work?

There are many types of healing with sound and at the White Turtle Lodge we use many different healing tools for various different sound therapy treatments that all bring different healing benefits.  Here are just some of our healing tools we use:  drums, tuning forks, bells, singing bowls, natural sounds, water, and voice.

If unbalances are detected sound therapy can rebalance the vibration and harmonise the system of the body, like a violin or harp.  If a weakness is detected a strong harmonious sound is made by the voice or musical instrument which stimulates the body cells to vibrate sympathy.

What we feel emotionally can have a dramatic effect on how we feel physically.  Stress and anxiety, for example, can cause high blood pressure, headaches, insomnia, and many more health issues, specific pieces of music and sounds can help stimulate and help with these health issues.

The complex rhythms, harmonies and melodies of the classical music stimulates the brain too and sooths the nervous system.  It can also benefit with those that suffer with healing problems.
